Ewan Sheriff is a lawyer with over 15 years experience, attained in fields of commercial law and real estate, mainly within the UK. His strongest expertise lies in investment & development, structuring, financing and asset management. Ewan now lives and work's in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.
Personal Life
Ewan Sheriff was born in Scotland in 1968 and spent his early years there, including school and The university of Dundee, where he gained a diploma in legal practice. Ewan was married in 2002, again in Scotland, and his first child, Niamh was born in 2004. Two further children followed in 2005 and 2008.
Having long been interested in living in the Middle East, the Sheriff family recently relocated to Dubai in The Middle East for various reasons. For one, they strongly believe that Dubai provides a far better environment to raise their children than back in the UK. For example, the education system there is very strong as well as multi-cultural, which will give them the opportunities to meet new people from around the world.
Additionally, it is Ewan's professional belief that the UK will continue to suffer a prolonged period of recession. Meanwhile, The Middle East continues to brim with opportunity and optimism for the future.
Professional Life
Ewan Sheriff trained with Alex Morison & Co in 1990 and remained ther until late 1992. Ewan took particular interest in commercial property whilst there, and left to join Semple Fraser Haniford DiCiacca in Glasgow, where Mr Sheriff continued until 1993. At this point Ewan relocated to Edinburgh to take up post with Archibald Campbell & Harley, where he was to stay for 8 happy years.
Ewan's career continued at 'Shepherd & Wedderburn' from 2001 to 2004 with increased exposure in investment and development fields.His client following increased substantially before he left to head up Property at Dickson Minto, 2004. While he was there they created one of the best known real estate teams in the UK, carrying out high profile transactions and quadrupling turnover within 3 years before the market change.
Throughout his career to date, Ewan Sheriff has demonstrated outstanding commercial initiative, management skills and a great ability to think laterally. His client base has changed many times over his career, once again highlighting his ability to stay ahead of the game and develop his practice in many different directions.
